Infrastructure
Rambla de la Honda Viaduct
The Rambla Honda viaduct is one of the many infrastructures that users can find on their walk along the Nature Trail.
It was part of the Murcia-Granada railway, also known as the Almanzora railway, built by the British company The Great Southern of Spain Railway Company in 1885, and remained in service for a century until it was closed to traffic in 1985.
This structure is composed of two semicircular arches built in stone masonry. The voussoirs of the arches can be distinguished in the construction, as well as the sturdy central pillar that serves as the base of both arches.
The viaduct allows passage over the bed of the Rambla Honda, one of the tributaries of the river Almanzora where it discharges its waters from the Sierra de las Estancias.
