Rambla de la Hojilla Viaduct
This viaduct is an important structure on the railway line connecting Granada and Murcia, specifically on the Almanzora railway, which corresponds to the Guadix-Almendricos section.
The construction of this infrastructure dates back to the end of the 19th century, when it was built by the British company The Great Southern of Spain Railway Company Limited (GSSR).
The structure itself consists of a solid pillar, built of stone masonry, with a wide, stepped base. This pillar is harmoniously connected to the walls at the ends of the riverbed by two metal bases, which have been carefully rehabilitated to ensure the safe passage of pedestrians and cyclists over the wide Rambla de La Hojilla.
The wadi, of considerable magnitude, originates at the confluence of two watercourses at an altitude of approximately 700 m, located some 3 km northeast of Partaloa, in the Sierra de las Estancias. This wadi forms part of the River Almanzora basin and joins the latter a few metres from the viaduct itself.
