Túnel de Albox
Located halfway between the municipalities of Cantoria and Almanzora, this 38 m long tunnel is located between the mounds dotted around the Sierra de Las Estancias.
The passageway crosses a small hill in the Alto del Marchal area, where the materials of the Alpujarra Complex can be seen, especially the oldest substratum composed mainly of schists, phyllites and quartzites.
This infrastructure was built in stone masonry at the beginning of the 19th century in order to facilitate the passage of the railway, and is now part of the Nature Trail itinerary.
It is properly signposted and prepared for the transit of walkers and cyclists. Due to its short length, it has no lighting, allowing users to see the end of the tunnel at all times.
