Rambla del Lentisco Viaduct
This engineering work is a refurbished structure to allow pedestrians and cyclists to cross the Lentisco wadi.
It is a sturdy-looking construction made up of two masonry walls attached to the ends of the wadi bed and joined by a structure made of iron beams. Undoubtedly, this layout was designed to support heavy loads, just like the rest of the railway constructions devised in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Europe.
The viaduct played a crucial role in this railway which connected the provinces of Granada, Almería and Murcia for a century, from 1885 to 1985. Today, it has become a privileged observer of the Lentisco wadi with its meandering riverbed, as well as the natural surroundings of the area.
