Old Railway Bridge
Shifts on the Sant Feliu de Guíxols to Girona railway line used to begin in the early hours of the morning with the task of starting the locomotives that would make the journey during that day.
Meanwhile, the water and coal levels had to be checked, as well as making sure that the boilers were getting up to pressure little by little. Then it was the turn of the stoker and the engineer to take over. They were in charge of greasing, cleaning and tuning the engines for the day ahead.
At 4 o'clock in the morning, the siren would sound as the first train left Sant Feliu. Many hours later the last locomotive of the day would arrive at 11 o'clock at night and be shut down.
Most of the trains that made this route were mixed, in other words, freight wagons were coupled to passenger carriages, after which another covered freight wagon was added.
The Carrilet ran along the line stopping at several stations and crossing a total of nine bridges. This one in question crosses the road that goes to the Mas Sant Josep campsite. It is suitable for cyclists, allowing them to enjoy the landscape of the park it crosses, as well as the surrounding trees towards Castell d`Aro.
The bridge is composed of a metal deck of full-bore beams, supported on the abutments and a central pillar, also made of metal.
