Old Railway Bridge
This carrilet, which began its journey in 1892, was the first to operate on a track gauge of 75 cm. The "Feliuet", as it was affectionately known, used to transport cork to processing centres along its route. With the passage of time and the gradual loss of traffic, the line passed over to state ownership in 1963. Despite efforts to keep the line open, in 1969 it was closed and dismantled.
From the beginning, the train route was designed to avoid costly works, so no tunnels were ever built and of the nine bridges built, only five are of any meaningful length.
This is one of these small structures, designed by the engineer Alexandre Wolguemuth, which, like most of its peers, is composed of a metal deck of full-bore beams, supported by abutments and a central pillar, also made of metal.
It is currently part of the Girona-Sant Feliu de Guíxols Carrilet Greenway and is commonly used by hikers and cyclists along the way.
