Tordesalas
Tordesalas is a small village in the municipality of Torrubia de Soria. It is located very close to the province of Zaragoza, between the Sierra de Costanazo and Sierra de Corija mountains.
There are only 5 inhabitants left in the village and it is known in the area for some of its ruins. They include the ruins of a tower that must have been enormous but only one corner remains today, reaching a height of some 20 metres.
It was built with masonry walls and we can still see the marks of the holes in the wall by those who approach it. Despite its ruinous conditions, some indications suggest that this tower may have had four storeys and may have been of Berber origin, although it does not have the same characteristics as other towers from the period, so it may have been built some time later.
In Tordesalas you can also visit other old buildings such as the Church of Santa Catalina, abandoned and in ruins, or the New Church of Santa Catalina, simple and better preserved. This masonry building has a single rectangular floor plan, which is accessed through a doorway with a semicircular arch. It has some windows to illuminate the interior and a small bell tower crowned with a small wooden cross. A visit to the house of the Count of Gómara is also worthwhile, where one of its walls still bears a spectacular coat of arms and a fountain of Roman origin.
The festivities of Santa Catalina, the town's patron saint, are held on 25 November.
