Laminar Flow Area
The laminar flow area is located on the road to the village of Tinajeros. When it was established, the aim of this area was to laminate the flow of water in order to prevent the downstream section from getting bigger.
Today, besides acting as a wetland, it helps to improve water quality and water purification by passing through grassland in channels with a mixed bed of gravel and topsoil. It also provides a valuable contribution to the area's green space, providing a wildlife habitat and opportunities for public recreation.
It is 300 metres long and has a surface area of 50,000 square metres. This is where the filtration of the water flow from Albacete takes place.
In addition, this area also offers refuge to birds due to its special conditions, recovering the old wetland character it had before the construction of the Canal de María Cristina.
