Sot de Ferrer
Sot de Ferrer sits the banks of the River Palancia, with the centre of the village just a short distance from its course, at an elevation of 230 metres. Founded in the 14th century on the site of earlier Moorish settlements, there are also significant archaeological remains from the Iberian period at various locations within the town.
In terms of its architecture, several traditional buildings stand out, including the old washhouses, a medieval well, and the Calores Mill, built with masonry. Also noteworthy are remarkable structures such as the 13th-century Palacio del Señor and the 18th-century Church of La Inmaculada Concepción, featuring its main altar and the 14th-century panel of San Miguel Arcángel, as well as the 17th-century Shrine of San Antonio de Padua.
The economic development of the town has historically been closely tied to land use, particularly through agricultural activities in the region. In recent years, however, a growing tourism sector has started to play an increasingly important role in the town's economy.
Among the natural heritage of Sot de Ferrer, the area surrounding the Palancia riverbed undoubtedly stands out.
As for its festivals, the town has the patron saint celebrations in honour of San Antonio de Padua and the Santísimo Cristo de la Piedad, which includes a pilgrimage from the hermitage to the church. The summer festivities organised by the Mayorales are also notable.
