Old Oña station
The Oña station was inaugurated in 1929. This complex, located in the town of the same name, served the Santander-Mediterranean Sea railway. This railway line was a project conceived at the beginning of the 20th century to link the ports of Santander and Valencia.
Although the construction lasted for decades, it was never fully completed. The operational part, known as the Calatayud-Cidad/Dosante line, was in operation for several decades, but finally closed in 1985 due to lack of economic profitability.
Oña station is located at kilometre point 312.033 and its commissioning coincided with the inauguration of the Peñahorada-Trespaderne section. It has now been refurbished to serve as a municipal hostel. On the ground floor, which used to house the stationmaster's offices, the hall and a small warehouse, there is now a kitchen and a lounge. The rooms are located on the upper floor, which used to be the stationmaster's living quarters. It has a total of four rooms with bunk beds, bathrooms and showers.
