El Molí viewpoint
El Molí Viewpoint is one of the rest and viewpoints along the River Segre and Utxesa Reservoir Nature Trail, situated near the site of the old Utxesa Mill. Visitors can enjoy a sweeping view of the reservoir’s surface, framed by riverside vegetation, reed beds and farmland typical of the Segrià landscape.
A wooden railing runs around the perimeter and a bench faces the water, inviting visitors to pause and take in the scenery at their leisure. The site, consisting of gravel and compacted earth, blends seamlessly into the natural surroundings, without altering the appearance of the wetland. In the background, visitors can make out the gentle outline of the reservoir, with gentle ripples on the water and the landscape of sloping farmland that serves as a reminder of the close relationship between water management and agricultural activity in the area.
This viewpoint offers an insight into the ecological importance of the Utxesa reservoir, which has, over time, become a refuge for waterbirds and migratory birds. It also offers a unique insight into the cultural landscape shaped by water, where old mills, canals, paths and wetlands illustrate the historical transformation of this region.
El Molí viewpoint is, in short, the perfect place to take a break, observe the wildlife and gain an understanding of the link between nature, water and rural heritage.
