Tunnel
This tunnel is around 125 m long and for years it was essential for carrying raw materials on the railway linking the Ojos Negros mine with the port of Sagunto for the distribution of raw materials.
Its architecture is quite similar to that of other tunnels located along the route that this train used to travel in the past. It was built in stone with materials that blend in quite well with the chromatic range of the surroundings.
Both entrances are set into the elevation, with the slopes resulting from the excavation being stabilised by natural vegetation.
Today, this old railway infrastructure is part of the greenway along the route of this railway line that has been integrated into the national network of Nature Trails. It means that this pass, located between the ravines of Castellón, is perfectly conditioned for walkers and cyclists. Although it is fitted with lighting inside, and the end of the tunnel is visible from the entrance, it is recommended to carry a torch.
