St. Pelayo Church
Located in Dehesa de Montejo, you will find the remains of a 12th century Romanesque church that was probably completed between the 15th and 17th centuries. It is the Gothic St. Pelayo church.
It has a single nave and a square chancel, as well as buttresses on the outside, with a sacristy and portico at the rear. It is covered by a barrel vault and star-shaped ribbed vault, reinforced by perpendicular arches.
Its Romanesque doorway with a semicircular arch has two archivolts and capitals decorated with plant motifs.
Inside there is a 16th century baroque baptismal font and three altarpieces: the so-called Solomonic altarpiece from the 17th century, the main altar with paintings of the Apostles, a sculpture of St. Pelayo from the 17th century, and finally another altarpiece featuring the image of St. Roque.
