St. Eulalia's Chapel
On a hill overlooking a broad valley south of Barrio de Santa María sits this church, which was the former parish of a medieval uninhabited village of the same name that no longer exists.
St. Eulalia's chapel, was declared a Historical and Artistic Monument. It is a simple Romanesque church dating back to the late 12th or early 13th century and represents a clear example of Palencia's Rural Romanesque style.
The building is made of sandstone ashlar masonry with a single nave and a raised barrel vault and barrel arches. The chevet has a single apse reinforced on the exterior by buttresses.
Inside, the circular apse with a presbytery is separated from the rest of the nave by a pointed triumphal arch. A decorated doorway with four archivolts and capitals and its original ironwork is located along the north wall of the nave and is where the chapel is accessed. In addition, the chapel houses remains of Romanesque mural paintings from the 13th century, most notably the Pantocrator of the apse.
The apse is separated on the outside in three sections with a decorated window in each one.
