Cantejeira
Cantejeira is a small village situated within Balboa with a population of 29 inhabitants. Its traditional architecture preserves several pallozas (traditional thatched roundhouses) typical of the area that have their origin in ancient hillforts. Most of them have been restored and adapted to a more modern style, losing their typical and traditional thatched roofs.
However, there is still one palloza with this traditional roof in the village: the Lamas palloza, the oldest in the area. Its name derives from the last family that lived there, and its construction dates back to the 17th century. Today, its interior has been refurbished to house a small restaurant serving traditional local food. Due to its small size, seating is very limited, making dining there a real privilege.
It is worth visiting the parish of Cantejeira, dedicated to San Lorenzo, whose feast day is celebrated every 10 August.
In addition, less than 2 kilometres from the village, there is an impressive waterfall with a drop of almost 10 metres along the course of the Regeiro da Morteira that will delight visitors.
