Minería Greenway
The La Minería Greenway runs on a section of the old Peñarroya-Puertollano railway line repurposed for recreational use. This line was part of the narrow-gauge railway network built by the Sociedad Minera y Metalúrgica de Peñarroya (SMMP) to connect all its mining operations.
The section converted into a Greenway starts at the old El Soldado station, where the remains of the mining past can be seen in a particular landscape of dismantled hills and ruins of mining infrastructures. It then passes through a pasture-covered holm oak grove where it is common to see herds of Iberian pigs walking, while passing by other railway structures such as halt stations, railway huts, the Peñas Blancas station or some impressive trenches dug for the construction of the railway line. The route ends, after 14.6 km, in the mountainous landscape of the initial foothills of the Sierra Morena, on the border between the Córdoba comarcas of Los Pedroches and Valle del Guadiato.
