Tunnel
This tunnel is around 143 m long and for years it was essential for carrying raw materials on the railway linking the Ojos Negros mine with the port of Sagunto for the distribution of raw. The entrance is located right on the edge of a slightly boxed-in hillock. Its architecture is quite similar to that of other tunnels located along the route that this train used to travel in the past. It was built in stone with materials that blend in quite well with the chromatic range of the surroundings. Its entrance is slightly dug into the ground and has a row of pine trees on one side. It is a straight tunnel, which means we can see light at the end of the tunnel, unlike some other tunnels on this line which have a curve.
Today, this old railway infrastructure is part of the greenway along the route of this railway line that has been integrated into the national network of Nature Trails. It means that this pass, located between the ravines of Castellón, is perfectly conditioned for walkers and cyclists. Also, although it is fitted out with lighting inside, walkers are recommended to carry a torch all the same, as there are ditches inside the tunnel, which is indicated on a sign at the entrance.
