Almond tree (Prunus dulcis)
The almond tree (Prunus dulcis) is widely distributed in the Mediterranean. It has been cultivated since ancient times thanks to the excellent properties of its fruits, which are used in gastronomy for their nutritional properties and as a snack, for making sweets, but also as a condiment for many dishes. The oil extracted from almonds also has emollient properties that have been known since ancient times.
