River San Martín
The San Martín is a small river that rises near the municipality of Villaespasa in the heart of the province of Burgos, flowing in a southerly direction, taking on the waters of the River San Marcos. The River San Martín begins in privileged natural environment of the Sierra de la Demanda mountains, which means that along its route it offers unique landscapes rich in biodiversity.
At some points along its course, the flow is seasonal and can run almost dry at certain times of the year due to the scarcity of rainfall during summer. After a short route through this area of Burgos, the San Martín River flows into the Arlanza, one of the main watercourses in the area, near Cascajares de la Sierra.
