River Valparaíso
The Valparaiso is a small river that originates in the municipality of Villaespasa in the Sierra de la Demanda, in the province of Burgos. As it runs through the comarca of La Demanda, it receives the waters of other smaller streams and brooks that also originate in the peaks of the Sierra Demanda, such as the Valdejaramillo stream, the Butró stream or the Villoruebo de Valpoza rivers. At some points, the lack of rainfall during the summer period can cause this river to run practically dry at times. The Valparaíso flows into the Arlanza in the vicinity of the municipality of Hortigüela after a course of just over five kilometres.
