Cójobar station
In the past, this building located in the Burgos town of Cojóbar was part of the railway infrastructure of the line connecting Calatayud with Cidad Dosante, in Burgos. This line was conceived as part of a wider connection intended to link the ports of Santander and Sagunto. The ambitious project took was first undertaken the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but was abandoned and definitively closed down in January 1985.
In 1920, the provincial councils of Burgos, Santander, Soria and Zaragoza supported the construction of the central sections of the Santander-Mediterranean railway. The section between Calatayud and Cidade-Dosante was completed in 1930. However, the connection to Santander was never achieved, with the final 35 km remaining incomplete.
Once the railway was closed, some buildings were leased to municipalities or private individuals. This was the case, for example, of this infrastructure located in Cojóbar, which has become a private residence. The owners would appear to have conserved this early 20th century in good condition.
