Megalithic Dolmen of Busnela
This stone building is located next to the road leading to the Burgos town of Busnela, on the left bank of the river Nela.
For a long time, it was considered to be a dolmen, a claim that was eventually rejected as it lacked the characteristic tumulus of this type of construction.
This megalithic structure was built from a large natural rock, which is used to cover the tomb. Seven large sandstone slabs, also known as flagstones or orthostats, can be seen on top of it, which enclosed its perimeter.
The dimensions of this megalith of a semi-archaeological nature, dated to around 3000 BC, are 7 m along its major axis and 2.3 m in height. Its main purpose was as a shelter, and it was used by both shepherds and livestock.
