Church of Saints Justa and Rufina.
At the highest point northwest of Payo de Ojeda, lies this church dedicated to Saints Justa and Rufina who were martyrs of Seville and the town's patron saints.
The church was built in the 15th and 16th centuries in Gothic-style masonry, while retaining some Romanesque elements. It has a single nave with a square chancel with staggered angular buttresses. Subsequently, a side chapel, the tower, and a portico dated 1674 were added.
The nave is covered by a barrel vault reinforced with transverse arches, while the chancel is covered by a ribbed vault with cambered vaulting.
The doorway has corbels, which supported its original enclosure, an undecorated pointed arch and archivolt and a chambranle with a plant border. A Crucifix is engraved on the facade. The door retains its original ironwork.
Inside, you will find the Romanesque baptismal font whose upper edge and crown are decorated, although it is very worn. The main altarpiece, dating from the 17th century, was renovated during the neoclassical period and houses the Gothic sculptures of St. Justa and St. Rufina.
