Matute de Almazán
Matute de Almazán is a hamlet within the municipality of Matamala de Almazán.
Following the fall of the Ancien Régime, the locality became a constitutional municipality known as Matute de Matamala, situated within the Castilla la Vieja region. The area subsequently became part of Matamala de Almazán.
The town's most notable landmarks include the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción and the Chapel of the Virgen de la Carrera, which date back to the 14th century.
The Río Izana Nature Centre, which houses the Resin Museum, is located less than 4 km from this town in Matamala de Almazán. Appointments can be made to visit the museum.
The town's economic foundation is built upon the pillars of forestry, agriculture, primarily cereals, sunflowers, and flax; livestock farming, with sheep and pigs representing the majority; and beekeeping.
The vegetation in the area is composed of pine woods with a variety of species and elements of typical Mediterranean woodland, including holm oaks, kermes oaks, gall oaks, and others.
The village holds festivities in honour of the Virgen de la Carrera on the weekend closest to 24 September. The Octave is also celebrated after Corpus Christi.
