Old Monreal del Campo station
Monreal del Campo station, in the municipality bearing the same name, was an infrastructure that belonged to the Central de Aragón railway line.
The station entered service in early April 1901, coinciding with the opening of the Calatayud-Puerto Escandón section of the Calatayud-Valencia railway. The company responsible for building it was the Compañía del Ferrocarril Central de Aragón, which would manage it until 1941, when, after the nationalisation of the Iberian gauge railway network, RENFE took over.
As with other stations on this railway line, this ashlar building has a rectangular floor plan and a single storey height topped with a hipped roof. The central part was used for travellers while, at the ends, there were two semi-detached dwellings.
In 2008, by which time ADIF owned line, a series of renovations were undertaken to exploit the station’s change of location, which was moved a little over 1.5 km to the south. The tracks were renovated since it was necessary to rectify part of the route and a new station was built.
The station is currently abandoned.
