CICAR and the former SM de Caminreal station
The mission of the Centre for the Interpretation of Roman Culture in Caminreal (CICAR) is to disseminate the Roman culture found at the nearby La Caridad site.
It opened in 2008, and is a project promoted by the Caminreal Council in collaboration with the DGA, the Jiloca District and the Provincial Government.
CICAR’s headquarters are inside the old Caminreal Railway Station, a building with the same features as the other stations on the line, built with ashlar, with wide openings and on a single floor. It is all covered by a hipped roof.
This station was the first in the town of Caminreal and was located on the railway lines of the Central de Aragón.
To open the Interpretation Centre it was necessary to restore the building over several years, in which various authorities participated, especially the Aragonese Employment Institute, which subsidised several employment workshops for that purpose.
The centre was finally opened in 2010 and is fitted out with the best educational resources (models, photographs, audiovisuals, etc.) to give visitors an insight into the site and the area where it lies.
