The Shrine of Nuestra Señora del Castillo is a temple located just 500 m from the centre of the town of Abejar in the province of Soria. The 18th century shrine we see today was built on the site of an earlier, more modest chapel from the late 15th century, where, according to legend, Teresa of ´Ávila spent the night on her way to Soria in the late 16th century. The building, of masonry construction, has a single nave and a cross plan and is covered by lunettes. It has a transept with a dome on pendentives and a ribbed vault divided into eight sections. Inside is a wooden altarpiece in baroque and neoclassical style.
Every 15 August, the locals of Abejar gather at the shrine to celebrate a pilgrimage in honour of Nuestra Señora del Camino.
