Torayo
Torayo, known as Tourayu in traditional Asturian, is a small hamlet consisting of just 12 houses, including hórreos and paneras (granaries on stilts). It is located at the crossroads between the main road and the alternative road on Stage 20. Torayo is part of the parish of Tuña and the council of Tineo. Similar to other villages in the region, such as Puente Castro, Torayo is nestled at the bottom of the valley carved out by the Genestaza River.
One notable feature in Torayo is the hermitage of Saint Euseña, which greets those continuing their journey to Tuña at the village entrance. Although the hermitage is not open to the public, part of its interior can be glimpsed from the outside. Built in the 18th century, it is dedicated to Saint Eugenia, or Euseña in Asturian, a Roman martyr beheaded in the 3rd century for professing the Christian faith.
The hermitage of Saint Euseña is very small and stands out prominently from the typical buildings in the area due to its eye-catching whitewashed facade, dark brown wooden doors, and a lighter stone base.
