San Pedro
San Pedro is a village in the parish of Arrojo.
It is located just over a kilometre away from Arrojo, on the AS-229 road.
In San Pedro there are the remnants of a manor house, in which the head or most important man of a noble lineage resided.
The church of San Pedro and the chapel of Arrojo are located here.
The church consists of a single nave, topped by a semicircular vaulted chapel. It has a triumphal arch that separates the apse from the central nave.
The date of its foundation is unknown but what is known for sure is that it has undergone several remodelling works throughout its history. The north chapel and its tombs have been dated to the 15th century. In 1606, the south side was reformed by adding a door and the chapel was refurbished with the murals repainted in the 18th century.
It is believed that the church contained the tomb of Don Gutierre, the first Marquis of Camposagrado. On 20th May 2022, the church of San Pedro was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC).
