Pueblica de Campeán
Pueblica de Campeán is a municipality located in the Sayago region of Zamora, within the municipality of Pereruela.
The village is the youngest in the region. La Pueblica was flooded in 1932 because of the construction of the Ricobayo Reservoir. In response, the town's inhabitants established the organisation in the same year. The ancient settlement was situated on a promontory between the Aliste and Esla rivers.
The construction of the new dam resulted in the flooding of the site, necessitating the reconstruction of the village in the Dehesa de Campeán, which subsequently became the name of the village.
It is evident that not all the original inhabitants of La Pueblica ultimately relocated to the newly established settlement. Some residents relocated to nearby villages, including Villanueva de los Corchos, Villaflor, Manzanal del Barco, and Carbajales de Alba.
One of the town's most notable monuments is the Church of La Pueblica, which features a Latin cross floor plan. The original construction comprised a single nave, but subsequent alterations resulted in the addition of a smaller aisle.
The doorway is characterised by a lintelled arch, which is crowned by five quadrangular openings arranged in the form of a Greek cross. The design is repeated in both arms of the church. The church is constructed from ashlar stone and is covered by a gable roof. It has a belfry with two bays and a bell.
Regarding the celebrations, the festivities in honour of San Mateo are held from 28 to 30 July.
