Chapel of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias
The chapel of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias is situated at the southeast exit of the municipality of Quintanas de Gormaz, on the road to Recuerda.
The building is situated on a small widening of the road, surrounded by the typical Soria crop fields, mainly cereal, sunflower and flax. It is located away from the wooded vegetation that characterises the northern part of Quintanas de Gormaz.
The temple is constructed from masonry and ashlar stone and has a double doorway with two semicircular arches. It is sheltered by a small porch with a three-sided roof supported by two stone columns and a wooden column that supports the coffered ceiling of the porch, also made of wood. From this point, two distinct bodies can be identified. The lower body has a belfry with a bell and a square floor plan. The slightly higher body has a rectangular floor plan, with openings strategically placed to allow for interior lighting.
The Museo de la Resina and the old Quintanas washing place, situated less than 200 metres from the chapel, offer insight into the way of life that developed in this rural area.
The area is of great mycological interest, with a variety of mushrooms, including morels (Morchella), boletus (Boletus), chanterelles (Lactarius deliciosus), oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus eryngii), etc., which can be collected in the area.
