Cerro Arapil Chico
This hill is located in the municipality of Arapiles, in the region of Campo de Salamanca or Campo Charro, in the province of Salamanca, within a protected area. It has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, in the category of Historical Site, Battle of Arapiles.
This battle took place in 1812, during the Peninsular War as part of the Napoleonic Wars. Smaller than its counterpart Arapil Grande, which stands to the south, in Arapil Chico a battery of cannons and a British infantry battalion of the allied army formed by English, Portuguese and Spanish took up position, under the command of General Arthur Wellesley who fought against the French troops commanded by Marshal Marmont.
