Bernuy Salineros
Just 8 kilometres from the provincial capital is Bernuy Salineros, a small hamlet of just 25 inhabitants but one with its own special charm thanks to its adobe and stone houses reflecting the traditional architecture of the area.
The heart of this town is the Church of San Pedro Apóstol, an 18th century Baroque temple that stands out for its simplicity. Restored after the damage suffered during the Civil War, this church stands at the highest part of Bernuy and still preserves its cemetery inside the enclosure, as in the old days.
This hamlet is full of life with its celebrations. Every 18th August, the locals honour the Virgen del Rosario. Easter and other religious occasions are celebrated around the church, keeping the customs of the community alive.
