The river Palancia
The River Palancia, despite being one of the shortest watercourses in the Valencian Community, has historically served as a vital resource for sustaining the region’s irrigated agriculture. The Palancia rises in the area surrounding the Sierra de Toro and flows for 85 km before emptying into the municipalities of Sagunto and Canet de Berenguer. Its route is especially remarkable in the upper course, where the clear, crystal-clear waters create springs and pools, carving out gorges through the most mountainous sections of its path. However, at its mouth, the river is almost completely dry.
This river holds significant environmental value along its course, particularly at its source, which has become a notable point of tourist interest for the municipality of Bejís.
