The river Alfambra
The source of the Alfambra River is at the summit of Peñarroya (2,019 m above sea level), in the Sierra de la Moratilla mountains. It follows a winding route through different municipalities in the province of Teruel, before entering the River Guadalaviar in the capital of Teruel to form the River Turia.
It has a highly irregular flow and there are no reservoirs along its course, following a northerly direction from its source to the village of Galve, turning southwards from there until it flows into Teruel. It is popularly known as the río rojo or red river, clayey soil through which it flows give the waters reddish tones.
