Hydrography
Golmayo river
Some 12 kilometres in length, the Golmayo River rises at an altitude of 1,200 m on the slopes of the Frentes Peak in La Toba in the village of Fuentetoba, municipality of Golmayo. The source of this river has an impressive spring derived from the infiltration of rainwater in the mountain, causing the water to flow freely forming an abundant and spectacular waterfall over the rock formations. A unique sight! This peaceful refuge is also one of the most important hydrological phenomena in the natural environment of the province of Soria.
Over its short course, the Golmayo River flows through the villages of Fuentetoba, Golmayo before entering the River Duero just south of the city of Soria. As it passes through this natural enclave in Soria, it is fed by the waters of numerous streams and brooks that run through the ravines of the surrounding mountains.
