Torreón de Los Gamarra
This tower is located at a crossroads in the centre of the province of Burgos, in the municipality of Olmosalbos. Its construction dates back to the 16th century when Diego de Gamarra and Leonor de Serón ordered its construction. This imposing building has a square ground plan, rounded corners, battlements and Renaissance windows with segmental arches. Its Renaissance-style façade has a large coat of arms at the top that identifies the founders of this building. The tower has preserved its battlements and the entire exterior façade in good condition, but the interior has deteriorated over the years. Today this tower, which in the past played an essential role in the strategic defence of this area against possible enemy attacks, on the banks of the Ausines River, is privately owned and fenced off, so it is not possible to visit its interior.
