Mijangos
Mijangos is a hamlet belonging to the municipality of Merindad de Cuesta-Urria, in the judicial district of Villarcayo.
It is located on the banks of the river Nela, near Nofuentes, the capital of the municipality, and like many of the nearby villages is described in the work of Pascual Madoz, in volume XI. The author states that Mijangos had the parish church of San Tirso Mártir, a school and around 60 houses. It was surrounded by fields where wheat, maize and barley, among other cereals, were grown, with fruit production and sheep farming being particularly important.
The church depends on the parish of Nofuentes, and its patron saint festivities of San Tirso are held on 27th September. In addition to these, the locals also celebrate San Cosme and San Damián.
One of its architectural jewels is a medieval bridge over the river Nela, which has six spans formed by semicircular and pointed arches.
