Perazancas de Ojeda
The town of Perazancas de Ojeda is the southernmost town in the municipality of Cervera de Pisuerga, which it became part of during the 20th century.
It has a 16th century house bearing the coat of arms of the inquisitor Antonio Bravo, an arch at the entrance to the old hospital, a washhouse, and the 12th century church of the Assumption which still has its original facade.
On the outskirts of the village is Las Animas (The Souls) shrine, an ancient boundary marker dividing the kingdoms of León and Castile, and the St. Pelayo Chapel, one of the oldest Romanesque monuments in Palencia, which contains the remains of the most remarkable Romanesque paintings in the province. The townspeople work in agriculture and beekeeping. In the past, they were also weavers and wool carders. You can get a first-hand look at all these trades at the town's Ethnographic Museum where there is a collection of tools used in these tasks.
The festivities are held on the eighth of Corpus Christi with reveille and a procession. Other celebrations include the feast of the Holy Heart of Jesus on June 6 and St. Pelayo on June 26.
