Moarves de Ojeda
Moarves de Ojeda is one of the eight districts that make up the municipality of Olmos de Ojeda. The Burejo River, a tributary of the Pisuerga, runs through the town, which is located in the region of Boedo-Ojeda in the province of Palencia.
Its name "Moarves" refers to the origin of its first settlers, who were Mozarabs, being known in the Middle Ages as Moharabes.
Undoubtedly, the most cherished landmark of this town is the 12th century Romanesque church of St. John the Baptist. A spectacular building whose facade will fascinate Romanesque art lovers, it also features a portico with carefully carved forms.
It is one of the towns that Alternative 1 passes through: Santibáñez de Ecla to Payo de Ojeda route, of the Romanesque Nature Path of Palencia.
