Castle of Alesga
The Castle of Alesga, also known as the Castle of San Pedro, appears for the first time in writings in the year 1122. Currently, it is the largest fortress in the surrounding area, measuring 40 metres long and 20 metres wide.
It is possible that the limestone promontory was previously used for defensive purposes in the Iron Age and in Roman times, according to various archaeological findings in the area.
This castle, now in ruins, underwent various modifications and remodelling, as indicated by the different materials used in its construction. What remained unchanged over time was its defensive function, due to its privileged location.
