Rodiles
Rodiles is a small village in the Council of Quirós. It is situated mid-slope (570 metres above sea level) in the valley of the River Ricabo. Harnessing the hydraulic power of this river, grain from across the valley - primarily spelt and maize - was ground in the large mill at Rodiles. Outside the village nucleus lie the ruins of an old lime kiln known as El Caleiru. The village is surrounded by meadows, woods and apple orchards (pumaradas). Within the village stands the small Chapel of Santa Bárbara, built of stone with a whitewashed rendered façade, a gabled roof with curved tiles and a small belfry. Nearby stands a hórreo (raised granary) featuring beautiful wood carvings, including several anthropomorphic figures.
