La Fábrica
La Fábrica is a small village in the parish of Arrojo (Quirós).
It is located 1.30 km from Bárzana and at an altitude of 440 metres.
The Ethnographic Museum of Quirós and Region is located in this village, which focuses on the way of life of the people of the Trubia valley.
The museum is located on the site of old foundry blast furnaces – remains of the industrialisation that took place in the area in the 19th century.
Visitors to the museum can see the industrial history of Quirós, from the arrival of foreign companies to the construction of the road, blast furnaces and the railway. Also, peasant life is explored through different spaces where visitors can discover the main economic and social aspects of the area.
The country house has three floors: the ground floor contains the stables for storing the animals, a cider press for making cider and a room dedicated to woodworking; while the second and top floors recreate the typical pilgrimage of Quiroga, together with an exhibition of different musical instruments.
The surroundings of the house feature typical village structures such as a hórreo (granary on stilts), a fountain, a trough, and a washing place.
