Chapel of our Lady of Linares
The former chapel of Centenera de Andaluz has been destroyed, leaving only the ruins of the building.
The chapel was dedicated to the Virgin of Linares, the patron saint of Centenera and Rebollo.
Previously, the parish was that of the uninhabited village of Quintanar, which is a very ancient settlement. Several Roman tiles and ceramics have been discovered there.
The chapel of Nuestra Señora de Linares is strategically located on the banks of the Duero river, which in this area is quite winding.
The interior of the chapel featured a carving of the Virgin and Child. Following the chapel's abandonment, this piece was transferred to the church of San Lorenzo de Centenares de Andaluz. This carving adheres to the aesthetic standards of the late 12th century, which prohibit contact between mother and child. The Virgin is depicted seated on a stool with arms and feet parallel at right angles, while the child seated on her lap is blessing with her right hand. The figure is crafted from polychrome wood. The current crown is made of metal, whereas the original crown was made of wood. It was replaced in a restoration in which false eyes were added and the whole piece was repainted. A subsequent restoration also involved renewing the Virgin's hands.
