Source of the Freixeiro Stream
The last tributary of the River Ulla from the southeast bank, this stream shares its name with the only settlement in the parish of Abalo that is close to its course. Its source is in the small valley formed between Cabeza do Rio and Campo do Broteira, on the slopes of Monte Xiabre.
Although in its first section it crosses an area of eucalyptus plantation, the riparian vegetation that accompanies it has developed considerably, reaching a significant level of lushness. Although the construction of the high-speed railway tracks partially affected this area, the vegetation has managed to recover its splendour thanks to the moisture that characterises the environment.
