Inland. San Rosendo Nature Trail
Description
select a stage:

The San Rosendo Nature Trail results from the effort of recovering pedestrian ways that add up to 225 km between the provinces of Ourense and Lugo. It is divided in three sections and follows the layout of several Roman roads from the Roman camp of Aquis Querquennis, in Ourense, to Foz, near the Cantabrian Sea. Therefore, this trail connects inner and coastal Galicia.
This trail, whose name is derived from the Spanish name of Rudesind, the saint who defended and brought peace to Galicia, starts near the Baixa Limia-Serra do Xurés Natural Park by a first section of 28.3 km which runs between Porto Quintela and Celanova, where St. Rudesind founded his monastery in the 10th century.
From Celanova, the Nature Trail starts a second stage of 37.8 km heading to Ourense. This section follows the trail of Rudesind, who, in his time, used this road to travel to Mondoñedo to be made a bishop. The last stage, which runs between Mondoñedo and Foz, runs for 32.4 km across the region of A Maiña, in the province of Lugo, going through the villages of Lourenzá and Barreiros and finally reaching the coast.
