PR FV 56: El Puertito - Caleta de La Madera - El Puertito
Description
The Quiet Beauty of the “Majorero” Landscape
Beginning and ending in the small town of El Puertito, this circular path goes through volcanic terrain first and then along sandy stretches, on a trail offering magnificent views of the “Majorero” or Fuerteventura coast.
PR FV 56 is a circular path that begins and ends in the small town of El Puertito. Accordingly, we begin the trail heading north-northeast along a dirt track that we will follow until we see a vertical sign indicating the direction to Caleta de La Madera.
We continue along the track, whose surface changes color, becoming almost black, until we reach a small path of the same color, whose edges are marked by stones. This trail goes through volcanic badlands and allows hikers to enjoy magnificent views of Caleta de La Madera and, further on, Punta del Pesebre along the road.
As we advance towards the north, the surface of the road changes color again and it acquires the white hue characteristic of jable or volcanic sand. Along this stretch of the path we begin to enjoy excellent scenic views of the coastline of Fuerteventura.
In this first stretch, the trail is well marked, but, in case there is any kind of confusion, we should always go eastward (to the right).
From this point on, we walk on jable for approximately two kilometers, until we find a dirt track that connects Morro Jable and Punta de Jandía and which we shall follow until we come across the main road, which will take us again to El Puertito.
