Isla del Soto (Soto Island)
Within the metropolitan area of Salamanca, in the Tormes River, there is a small island, which forms part of the municipality of Santa Marta de Tormes.
The 14-hectare island is a national park and acts as a "green lung" for the area, allowing those who come not only to enjoy nature, walking or cycling, but it is also possible to play various types of sports or go fishing.
It has a unique riverside landscape, with gallery forests and animal sculptures scattered around. Soto Island has an Interpretation Centre, a bird observatory, four fishing stations, a pet enclosure, a children's playground and a trial bike circuit.
The town council has also set up a show area for different cultural activities that are organised on a regular basis, as well as rest areas to take a break.
