Sierra Boyera reservoir
This small reservoir (less than 41 m3 maximum capacity) on the River Guadiato is located between the municipalities of Belmez, Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo and Fuente Obejuna in the province of Cordoba.
The dam was built between 1969 and 1974 and began operating in 1983. The main uses of the water in the reservoir are water supply and irrigation, and water sports and fishing are practised in the reservoir.
As a curiosity, during periods of drought, the site is used to investigate an Iberian settlement whose remains are normally covered by water.
