Parador de Calahorra
Elegance and splendor in the heart of La Rioja
The Parador de Calahorra is situated in the Valley of Cidacos, in the area where the Ebro and Cidacos rivers meet. It’s an elegant building of reddish hues surrounded by a palm garden. Its comfortable rooms, meticulous decoration, and the cosy warmth of its lounge fireplaces make this accommodation an ideal family destination. There are halls for hosting events and celebrations, a cafeteria, a restaurant, a common lounge and a hotel car park.
It is worth taking a walk through the historic center of Calahorra and its Cathedral, the old Muslim quarter and some of the Roman ruins found there, the church of San Andrés, the Plaza del Raso and the municipal museum which houses the famous effigy, the Dama Calagurritana, or the Carmelite convent with an impressive Christ statue by the Baroque sculptor Gregorio Fernández.
Calahorra is also a wine-growing area. Head out to Aldeanueva del Ebro, a little more than fifteen minutes from the hotel, to visit the first Wine Museum in La Rioja Baja, located in La Ermita de Nuestra Señora del Portal; or explore fantastic wineries where the exquisite wines of La Rioja are produced.
If you are traveling with your family, we recommend the Dinosaur Route. You can see traces of these fascinating prehistoric animals in more than forty sites scattered throughout the region of Calahorra, in nearby towns such as Enciso and Igea. Also, don't miss the “Tierra Rapaz” bird of prey park, located only five kilometers from the city, a perfect excursion for the little ones.
